On the European Day Against Islamophobia, the Council of European Muslims renews the calls for European governments and institutions to stand firmly against the increased Islamophobia and racist practices against Muslims in Europe.

The recent statistics indicate that hate speech against Islam and Muslims has dramatically increased. It also shows a serious increase in religiously motivated attacks against Muslims and their properties.

Years of islamophobia and hate speech against European Muslims by mainstream politicians and much of the media elites has fuelled violence, given the confidence to racists to commit more hate crimes and constituted a real threat against the core values of freedom, equality, respect and peaceful coexistence. Neglecting such practices will have a profound impact on the fabric of  our societies.

Today, We are calling for swift measures and leadership to stop Islamophobia and genuine steps to end the serious violation of the core values in Europe. We strongly believe that adoption of the principles of peaceful coexistence will be the crucial key to promote Europe stability, peace and development .
