Regarding the Determination of the Start of Ramadan and Shawwal 1446 AH / 2025 CE

The General Secretariat of the European Council for Fatwa and Research announces the determination of the start of Ramadan and Shawwal 1446 AH, based on precise astronomical calculations and the resolutions of relevant Islamic jurisprudential bodies.
Start of Ramadan 1446 AH:
• Time of Conjunction: Friday, 28 February 2025, at 00:45 UTC (03:45 Mecca Time).
• Visibility of the Crescent: Friday, 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH (28 February 2025), observable with the naked eye or telescopes.
• First Day of Ramadan: Saturday, 1 March 2025.
Start of Shawwal 1446 AH (Eid al-Fitr):
• Time of Conjunction: Saturday, 29 March 2025, at 10:58 UTC (13:58 Mecca Time).
• Visibility of the Crescent: Saturday, 29 Ramadan 1446 AH (29 March 2025), in North America and parts of South America, observable with the naked eye or telescopes.
• First Day of Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr): Sunday, 30 March 2025.
