Fear Not… Quran’s Message For Us
What would a person get from fear and anxiety of the inevitable other than the weakness of their powers, the disruption of their faculties, and the tyranny of psychological tension? Courage is to face adversity with a spirit that overcomes it, a soul that resists it, a mind able to plan against it, and a reassuring heart of what God declared for him.
Fear is more powerful than that being feared as it robs man of the ability and the will. At that time, disease, danger and poverty live before its raid, and panic before its cause, so the message of the Qur’an to us is always: “Do not be afraid…”.
Contemplate what God says to the mother of Moses: “And We inspired the mother of Moses, ‘Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers.'” [Quran 28:7]
Yes, fear is an innate emotion, and there is a necessary amount of it needed to bring benefits and ward off evil. However, we must put our hearts in the hands of God almighty when facing that which we cannot avoid. Only then, would we feel secure and safe, and all fears would disappear.
The same discourse was also with Moses, peace be upon him, in the same chapter of the Quran: “… he said, ‘Fear not, you have escaped from the wrongdoing people.'” [Quran 28:25]
While the world is now facing the Corona virus by following the earthly causes, we need, in addition to that, to go back to our Creator, surrendering to His destiny, believing that death and sustenance are in the hands of God almighty.
With the sun shining every day, hope is renewed and pain dissipates. We have to face our day and those that follow with a spirit full of optimism, creating hope by spreading this spirit, and connecting hearts with God almighty, who is the one capable of removing affliction, relieving distress, and He is more merciful with us than our own mothers.
“Lord, adversity has touched us, and you are the most merciful of the merciful”
