In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The holy month of Ramadan is set to begin on Friday, 24th April 2020. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, this year’s event will come amid exceptional circumstances. There will be no Taraweeh prayer, no social gatherings at Iftar, and no collective prayers in mosques.
However, Ramadan remains a special time for goodness. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When it is the first night of Ramadan, the devils and mischievous jinn are chained up, and the gates of Hell are closed, and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. Then, a caller calls out: ‘O seeker of good, come forward, and O seeker of evil, desist. And there are many whom Allah frees from Hellfire and this is in every night (of Ramadan).”
So, let’s make this month an opportunity for good deeds despite these special extenuating circumstances.
Ramadan is the month of mercy. We have to take advantage of these special circumstances in light of the outbreak to help each other and obtain mercy from Allah. The solidarity campaigns that were launched since the Coronavirus spread by many mosques and Islamic centres in different places, should be continued during the holy month. The reward of good deeds in Ramadan is doubled.
Ramadan is the month to Dua’a and prayers. Dua’a is accepted during the holy month as verses of Dua’a, comes just after verses of fasting in the holy Quran. The Almighty said: “And when (O Messenger) My servants ask you about Me, then surely I am near: I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he prays to Me. So let them respond to My call (without hesitation), and believe and trust in Me (in the way required of them), so that they may be guided to spiritual and intellectual excellence and right conduct.”
Let’s make Dua’a to Allah to remove sorrows.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “The best charity is that given in Ramadan.” {Tirmidhi} Let’s be proactive to charity, especially to mosques and Islamic centres in light of this difficult situation.
Ramadan Mubarak for all of you from The Council of European Muslims.
May Allah bring you all peace and happiness this Ramadan. May the divine blessings of Allah protect you all.
