Council of European Muslims is deeply saddened by the death of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, one of the Sunni muslim world’s most influential religious scholars, on Monday, September 26, 2022.
The late Sheikh Al-Qaradawi was one of the most influential contemporary Muslim scholars. He was named between the top 20 most influential thinkers in a poll conducted by The Foreign Policy and Prospect in 2008.
On the European arena, Sheikh Al-Qaradawi was one of the founders of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, as he chaired it for many years. During his chairmanship, he issued several Fatawas facilitating the European Muslims’ positive integration into their European societies.
With the passing of scholar Al-Qaradawi, the Islamic Ummah has lost one of its prominent figures and voices of moderation and renovation.
Head of the Council of European Muslims, Abdullah bin Mansour, has traveled to the Qatari capital, Doha, to attend the funeral of the late Sheikh Al-Qaradawi and to offer his condolences to his family and loved ones.
